Thriller Light Show

The Idea

In 2024, I was debating even doing Halloween because of how much work it is. The deciding factor for me was the announcement of the neighborhood Halloween Decorating Contest. I knew I had to make my display bigger than I had before. After raising about $800 I was able to purchase Govee lights, and a programmable talking skeleton. I edited 2 videos to the song Thriller that featured dancing skeletons, a werewolf, and more. One video was projection mapped onto the front of my house, while the other was rear projected through the window in the front of my house. The lights were programmed to dance to the song, and the skeleton was programmed to sing the lyrics. All of the projections, lights, audio, fog, and the skeleton were synced together and played every five minutes. Not only was the house put to life by Michael Jackson and thousands of LED lights, but also a heavy quantity of spiders. The house was covered. From the giant 8ft spider I made from all recycled materials, to the PVC spider tunnel- no matter where you looked, an 8 legged arachnid was close by.
